Spay/Neuter Policy

Puppies must be spayed by 8 months or neutered by 9 months.  If this puppy is not spayed or neutered by those dates, the buyer agrees that they are a breeder and agrees to immediately pay the sum of $10,000.00, which is the average cost of an Australian Labradoodle breeding dog.  All older dogs will be spayed or neutered prior to leaving Forest Hill Labradoodles.  If the older dog is intact, that dog must be neutered or spayed within 30 days of receiving the dog.  Buyer agrees to furnish Forest Hill Labradoodles with a certificate of spay or neuter within 2 weeks of spay/neuter deadline.  If the buyer does not furnish Forest Hill Labradoodles Labradoodles proof of the spay or neuter, signed by your vet, within the allotted time period, or if the dog has been bred, the buyer agrees to immediately pay the sum of $10,000.00, which is the average cost of an Australian Labradoodle breeder.

Many will ask why we take this stance, and it is pretty simple, teenage pregnancy is at it's the highest level ever . . . sorry, wrong thought . . . We believe in a code of ethics, that breeders joining the associations we are members of, and take very seriously.  Anyone can just put a lab and a poodle together and call it a Labradoodle, but that is not right for the breed or those dogs.  Our policy creates more work for us, but that is the breaks.

In addition, we believe that a proper level of hormones is needed for a dog to develop, which is why we do not do the early spay/neuter properly.  Many breeders do, and that is their choice just not the choice we make in consultation with our vet.  Plus, our vet refuses to do the surgery that young, and we really like our vet!
